REVIEW: Spirituality workshop, 2nd in series of ‘5 Keys to Flourishing’ with David Brown and Vanda Selby

A brief review of HACP’s ‘Spirituality’ workshop, held Saturday, 31 May 2025 in Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church

This Spirituality workshop, led by David and Vanda, took us on an imaginative and nourishing day’s journey, underpinned by the work of Professor Corey Keyes. The Five Keys, or ‘Vitamins’, he describes as essential to us flourishing as human beings are: Helping Others, Spirituality, Play, Learning, and Socialising. This workshop, the second in a run of five, explored spirituality in both its fundamental meaning, to its broadest sense, applying to anyone and everyone. This took in a whole spectrum from a religious perspective to a sense of just being within this world, guided by each other or something people felt was greater than us.

The key to our learning, most people felt, was the amount of sharing and self-discovery that came to the fore guided by David and Vanda’s teaching and encouragement. We found the experiential exercises, creativity, the day’s structure and their wise input so supportive of our personal ‘spiritual’ development. One of the key factors of the day was everyone’s joy of being with like-minded people which in itself seems to have fed our work and everyone there to a highly significant level. The atmosphere within the room for the whole day was beautifully encompassing and so supportive of everyone.

We are all looking forward to the next workshop, in the same venue on Saturday, 20th September 2025:  Key 3 ‘Playing’ with David and Vanda – it cannot come too soon.

A wonderfully inspiring day – a huge thank to the wonderful facilitators of our day’s journey and all present for creating such a ‘flourishing’ experience!

Jacqueline (who with Lottie are the 2025 HACP workshop co-ordinators)
