TurnStones is the art of turning our thinking and feeling upside down in the company of others, and being interested about what gets revealed. It’s the togetherness of this experience that really makes a difference. We explore questions like, what’s hidden? What patterns do you find underneath? What’s different? What is shifting for you, in your practice and for the ecosystem you exist in? To what else are your turned stones linked that might influence how you show up. Some key features of TurnStones that we hope you will experience : the impact of holding several conversations that interact with one another; the attention of others being paid to you during these interacting conversations; the emergence of new perspectives and possibilities as you turn over these stones.
In this HACP event, we will facilitate two different, yet related, experiences.
Part 1 will involve us facilitating your thinking and feeling on a topic of interest to each of you through creating the opportunity for a number of conversations in your table group, and the time and space to be interested in how they interact, probably being conversations in groups of three to five people. We invite you to simply come prepared with a topic that has resonance for you, which might be personal or professional. You will be the gatekeeper about how much you disclose about this topic to your table group, from nothing at all through to full disclosure.
Part 2 will invite you to think how might you use TurnStones as an approach in your counselling, coaching or therapeutic work to assist your clients with their next steps and insights. Perhaps your clients are facing some of these enquiries: something is troubling them; something preventing from moving forward as they want to; something going well and they want to build on it but are not sure how; a relationship that is not firing as they want it to. We will provide some models of how we work with individuals and groups, and we are interested in enabling conversations this evening in which we collectively explore the possibilities of TurnStones for you.
About Jeremy: I am a coach (PCC, ICF) who has a preference for describing what I do as thought provocation, feelings elicitation and curiosity wrangling! I draw on a career of 40 years including periods as a medicinal chemist, an academic, a change leader, before becoming a solopreneur with Alpamayo Coaching. My values include freedom, curiosity, contribution and connection. I enjoy partnering with people as they ‘think about their thinking’ and I am particularly interested in our way of being and how that shows up at work and play. I find complexity and making connections between disparate experiences and frameworks for thinking and feeling forever intriguing!
About Marcos: My fascination as a therapist working holistically is what is possible when we truly hear peoples’ multiplicity of stories and help them make their own connections. I have enjoyed a diverse career: studies in architecture, counselling, coaching, systemic family and organisational facilitation, natural systems as mirrors for human systems. Part of my career includes 15 years as a senior manager in local government, then managing a woodland educational charity which focuses on wellbeing, nature-connectedness and healing ecosystems . Now I’m a coach, facilitator and holistic counsellor and co-founded KOLIMBRI with my wife, Niki – we invite people to explore their interconnectedness, their emergent life purpose and to make a positive difference in our world.
