About your facilitator, Nathalie
Nathalie Knevett is a Counsellor and TRE® (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercise) Provider in Southampton.
Nathalie says: I started my TRE® training in March 2023 and have transformed the way my nervous system works. I am more able to identify and discuss my feelings now than I was then, and this is still developing. I am a Navy wife with 3 kids in a very neurodivergent household. In counselling I work with many things from relationships, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma and body image. Having worked in the NHS and charity sector I have worked for myself since October 2022.
What is TRE?
TRE stands for Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercise. It is a body-based self-help tool that consists of 7 exercises that put tension in some muscles and stretch out others, primarily in the legs, with a view to activate the natural tremor mechanism in the body.
If you’ve ever seen a dog after fireworks, or the prey on nature documentaries getting away from the predator, they will shake to release the stress from this event. We are at the core, animals, but we have been conditioned to see shaking or tremoring as a negative thing that needs to be managed or controlled. TRE is a way to reconnect with our own tremor to release stress, and support our nervous systems in understanding what we need.
Benefits of TRE
Short term gains include less pain, better sleep, a sense of calmness. Longer term you can support your nervous system to respond more appropriately to everyday stressors, increase flexibility and improve long standing injuries. For therapists it’s also great for managing vicarious trauma.
What to expect at this workshop
This full day TRE® workshop is a blend of theory and practical. We will have 2 shakes and a couple of demonstrations through the day. You will come to experientially understand the benefits of TRE® and how TRE® can be used to help yourself and your clients as a way of releasing all we come to hold in our bodies.
