About James
I am an integrative therapist and have been working in private practice for 10 years. I work with couples, individuals and young people. I am also a clinical supervisor. I have formerly taught at Peter Symonds College on their counselling courses, from level 2 through to level 6.
About the workshop
My day training on Kink and Fetish offers you, as therapists, an opportunity to expand your understanding of the subjects, challenge your assumptions, and develop greater confidence in supporting clients who explore kink, fetish, BDSM, and alternative expressions of intimacy. Together, we will explore some of the history and evolution of kink and fetish communities, learn key language and build a lexicon of terms, and examine the impact of shame, stigma, and misunderstanding on this client group. This training is designed to open your eyes to a rich and diverse area of human experience, helping you move beyond judgement and towards curiosity, compassion, and empowerment.
You will gain practical insight into how to create safer, more inclusive therapeutic spaces, reduce shame, and work more effectively with clients from kink communities. The day invites you to reflect on your own beliefs and assumptions while building the confidence to engage in conversations that may previously have felt unfamiliar or challenging. If you have already attended one of my previous shorter trainings, you will still get a lot out of this as we get to into much greater depth during this full-day experience, allowing more time for exploration of the topics, discussion and debate, skills practice and reflections.
(Please note, training days are non-refundable and non-transferable, except in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the HACP committee.)
