Hypnotherapy Explored, and how it can Complement Counselling, with Gavin Blackman

Chandlers Ford Methodist Church, SO53 2GJ & livestreamed

Wednesday 16 September 2026, 7.30-9.30pm

About Gavin

Head shot of Gavin BlackmanFollowing a successful 25-year career in professional services, supporting colleagues as a coach and mentor, Gavin retrained as a Hypnotherapist registered with the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH). Gavin is based in Winchester where he works, in-person or online, with both individual private clients and employers who support their employees either individually or collectively.

Gavin is passionate about raising Hypnotherapy’s profile from the “Therapy of Last Resort,” to instead being considered much earlier when a person is looking for support as part of a holistic and complementary approach by liaising with, and working with other therapists, in order that the client gets the best support possible.

Gavin’s talk will cover:

  • Briefly, the history and science behind hypnotherapy
  • Debunking hypnosis myths
  • How hypnotherapy and hypno-EMDR works
  • Surprising things hypnotherapy can help with
  • A typical session structure
  • Case studies
  • Gavin’s experience volunteering at the Macmillan Centre at the University Hospital Southampton (UHS) alongside other therapists
  • How hypnotherapy can complement counselling and vice-versa
